Select Board reappoints Labonte to registrars
Select Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026
Granby Select Board reappoints Labonte, moves to reshape an unused budget line into a new HR post. Members unanimously reappointed Michael Labonte to the Board of Registrars through March 2029, approved more than $1.06 million across five warrants, and signed off on licenses for Myers Catering and Case Fits LLC. Town Administrator Ron proposed converting an already-budgeted but unfilled assistant town administrator position into a roughly 30-32 hour executive administrative assistant role covering website, communications and HR work, joking the ideal hire is "a unicorn." The board also invoked a legal "rule of necessity" to let member Jeff Lawson, a paid town employee, vote on payroll warrants with a third member absent, and designated a shared school-town staff position a "special municipal employee" under state conflict-of-interest law.
A job description is due at the board's September 8 meeting.
