Select Board Names New Accountant, COA Director

Select Board · Meeting of July 20, 2026

Granby Select Board fills town accountant and senior center director posts, leaves Winehouse permit dispute unresolved. The board unanimously appointed Christopher Martin as town accountant and Lauren Hannigan as Council on Aging director, pending contract talks, after a search committee of the town administrator, Police Chief O'Grady and Council on Aging Chair Barbara unanimously recommended her. Members also renewed FY27 gravel pit permits for Narocki Construction Incorporated, Leon Chartier and Ondrick Materials and Recycling LLC, and approved warrants of $106,247.91 and $1,770,834.93.

A tense exchange with a resident identified as Jay, who cited town bylaw 6.30 over an unfinished Planning Board site plan review for a business called the Winehouse, prompted a board member to say, "I wish you really would stop sitting here threatening us." The board deferred any decision on Winehouse permits pending further review with town counsel.
