Granby OKs dispatcher pay for Select Board member
Select Board · Meeting of July 6, 2026
Granby Select Board clears a member to draw dual pay as a town dispatcher. The board voted unanimously under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 268, Section 20(D) to designate the public safety dispatcher position a special municipal employee role, letting member Jeffrey Lawson collect both his roughly $3,000 annual selectman's stipend and his dispatcher wages; Lawson recused himself from the vote. Town Administrator Ron Aponte told the board the town submitted a request to Representatives Dohm and Gomez this week seeking about $2 million in a state bond bill for gym and cafeteria remediation at the West Street building.
The board also approved warrants totaling more than $1.2 million and authorized Aponte to sign a fiscal year 2027 Veterans Services agreement with Northampton. "We worked with Chief O'Grady and Chief Bryant in setting up the cooling areas," Aponte said, describing the response to a near-100-degree trash emergency at Granby Heights.
