Granby Select Board OKs firefighters' contract
Select Board · Meeting of August 10, 2026
Granby Select Board signs three-year firefighters' contract, hears pitch to join Mayors for Peace. The board unanimously approved a firefighters union contract running July 2025 through June 2028, with no raise in fiscal 2026 and 5 percent increases in each of the following two years, plus new educational incentive pay up to $3,500 for a master's degree. Town Administrator Ron said the deal keeps the town "within the market... sweet spot" to aid recruiting and retention.
The Board of Assessors' chairman told the board his office voted 3-0 to seek a Director of Assessments, warning the position may require a municipal fund transfer from surplus accounts starting in May 2027. The board also approved a propane fuel-storage license for Bruce LaFlam, denied Leadfoot Brewing's request to refund a $100 permit fee from Charger Days, and tabled a request from Mayors for Peace representative Bruce Steadman pending input from absent member Jeffrey Lawson. Nine payment warrants totaling roughly $1.98 million were approved without discussion.
