Select Board Backs Permanent Five Corners Dividers
Select Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Granby Select Board votes to make new Five Corners traffic dividers permanent after a serious bicycle crash. The board unanimously authorized its town administrator to ask MassDOT to keep the Route 202 median stanchions in place year-round rather than removing them each winter, citing a June crash in which a cyclist was struck making the left turn into the Dunkin' Donuts plaza and "lost all of his teeth." One member said of dividers knocked down by plows, "so be it... the state can pay to replace them." The board also adopted a new use-of-force policy for the Granby Police Department as presented by Chief O'Grady, approved a fully benefited executive assistant position at roughly $35 an hour, signed off on manager changes at American Legion Post 266's 266 Lounge, and paid out warrants totaling approximately $1,054,286. A resident's complaint about chronic crashes at Taylor and Carver streets was continued to September 21.
