Select Board · Meeting of June 1, 2026

Granby Select Board sides with Planning Board, approves 20-car used auto lot over chiefs' objections. Police Chief O'Grady had recommended capping Smith Merrill Incorporated's new used-car license at 15 vehicles for safety reasons, but the board voted unanimously to approve the full 20-car license the Planning Board had already authorized, with hours set at 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Planning Board representative Jim Trump argued the board was overstepping, saying it was "a little bit of disrespect" to second-guess his board's site-plan review.

Separately, animal control officer Kim told the board a family has racked up 20 complaints, six verbal warnings and 13 unpaid citations over loose dogs, with fines running $25 to $50 each; the board will schedule a formal hearing. The board also approved a new USA Hauling trash contract starting July 1, with single-stream recycling carts replacing blue bags, and warrants totaling over $649,000.
