GRANBY — The Granby Select Board agreed to upgrade signage and striping at a crash-prone Carver Street corner after resident Daisy Pennell detailed a history of accidents, including a recent hit-and-run. No formal vote was taken, but the board said road staffer Dave LaRocher will add reflective tape, enhanced striping and bigger warning signs; a flashing stop sign and guardrail remain off the table due to cost and state criteria. Pennell said, "my number one concern right now is Peter's safety because he's on borrowed time with cars going over there on that lawn." Separately, the board heard from firewood business owner Matthew Gerard, who disputed a zoning officer's claim that his East Street operation violates local bylaw, citing possible protections under Massachusetts Chapter 61 farm law.
The board also approved eight routine payroll and bill warrants ranging from $81,491.26 to $418,288.77, one with a single abstention.
