Granby Select Board votes to begin contract talks with Ronald Aponte for town administrator.
Select Board · Meeting of April 27, 2026
Granby Select Board votes to begin contract talks with Ronald Aponte for town administrator. The board unanimously picked Aponte, a former Belchertown selectman and finance committee member, over finalist Doug Newton and a third, unnamed candidate from Greenfield, citing his "lifetime of experience throughout municipalities with budgets." Members also raised the plumbing and gas inspection fee from $35 to $70 to keep pace with neighboring towns, and spent much of the meeting dividing up the May 11 town meeting warrant, covering articles on a dump truck, a veterans memorial pavilion, fire department equipment and stabilization fund transfers. A public-access TV request for cameras in the Carnegie building was declined over concerns about recording staff offices, with Acting Town Administrator O'Grady warning "personal conversations could be being recorded and being public." The board also approved a timber removal contract for the town park and a $285,078.38 warrant.
