Select Board · Meeting of October 26, 2026

Granby's Select Board and Finance Committee voted to send a $1.1 million West Street building renovation to a November 16 special town meeting. The approved option adds full abatement, sprinklers and shell space for a future Council on Aging move, on top of new windows, doors and a gymnasium, at roughly a $470,000 premium over a bare-bones $680,000 facade option. Officials said keeping the existing project team avoids a new procurement cycle that could delay work five to six months.

A $1 million, 10-year loan near 4.75 percent would run about $126,000 a year, which officials said would not raise the tax rate since other town debt is retiring soon. "There's no question that the cheapest way to go is to do it now, to be honest," one finance official told the board. The Finance Committee's recommendation vote also passed with no recorded opposition.
