Granby School Committee approves ski club, CTE policy at October meeting

GRANBY — October 7, 2025 — Granby School Committee unanimously approved a ski club stipend transfer and a new CTE pathway policy at its October 7 meeting. The committee voted to redirect an unused stipend from the dormant Hope Club to a new ski club partnering with Berkshire East, with fees estimated around $375 to $425; Superintendent Jane Augustino said she would clarify proration options for winter athletes before the October 21 meeting. The board also approved McDuffey School's triennial review, with head of school Steve Griffin reporting enrollment of 213 students from 22 countries and nine Granby day students. A middle school Career Technical Education pathway exploration policy was adopted to meet a November 1 state deadline, requiring no new practices from the district. Augustino announced Granby is fully staffed, has been selected to pilot a Project Lead the Way AI curriculum in robotics and design, and received a $5,620 Safe and Supportive Schools grant. The junior-senior high school kitchen, closed for five years, passed a Board of Health inspection and is scheduled for a grand reopening on October 21.
