Granby School Committee Approves $10.6 Million Town Budget for FY27

GRANBY — April 28, 2026 — Granby School Committee unanimously approved a $10,559,633 FY27 school operating budget Tuesday after town leadership helped close a funding gap. The total operating budget, including funds beyond the town allocation, was set at $12,638,956 — a 1.29 percent increase over FY25, described by officials as a level-service budget that preserves all staff and programming. A proposed transportation partnership with South Hadley was central to the deal, with projected savings redirected from the transportation article into regular operations; town leadership, the Finance Committee chair, the superintendent, and the town administrator all participated in the negotiating meeting. The committee also voted unanimously to award the Granby Junior Senior High School standby generator replacement and campus surge protection project to Universal Electric Company Incorporated of West Springfield, contingent on contract negotiations, after three bids came in within the original budgeted amount. On school choice, Superintendent Todd reported 49 applications for 32 available spots — up from 32 applications last year — with 35 of the current applicants coming from South Hadley and the window remaining open until June 1.
