Granby School Committee reorganizes subcommittees, approves warrants at first full meeting

GRANBY — September 11, 2025 — Granby School Committee fills out subcommittees and clears a backlog of financial business at its first full-panel meeting of the year. The committee assigned budget to Chair Mary Jane Madera and Mike Ocino, policy to George and Trevor, community relations to Trevor and Madera, CES to Liz, and superintendent evaluation to George and Liz. Member Liz abstained from Warrant 10 over an unresolved ethics question about signing warrants that include CES invoices, given her seat on that collaborative's board of directors; all other warrants — 83, 84, 11, 13, 14, and 16 — passed unanimously. The committee also approved a $180 late-arriving FY25 invoice for fire damage to the junior varsity baseball field outfield. Superintendent's report highlighted a $10,000 Safe and Supportive Schools grant, a third consecutive world language grant, and a December 31 deadline to submit a new MCAS-replacement graduation competency framework to the state; the school kitchen, idle five years, cleared its final building inspection and is being professionally cleaned ahead of a board of health sign-off.
