Granby Planning Board reorganizes, schedules two public hearings for August

GRANBY — July 28, 2025 — Granby Planning Board reorganizes and flags redundancy dispute with Select Board over zoning review. The board unanimously reelected James Troky as chair at its July 28 meeting, with a member identified as Chris elected vice chair, Nina as secretary, and Nate as Pioneer Valley Planning Commission liaison. The board set two public hearings for August 11: a site plan approval for Five Corners LLC seeking a day spa at 61 Pleasant Street, requiring three affirmative votes, and a special permit for a fast-food establishment without a drive-through at 185 West State Street, requiring four. Planning consultant Ken Whitney said he is nearing completion of a zoning diagnostic under an existing town grant, with a larger $50,000 grant in play for community engagement and a line-by-line bylaw review. Troky said he plans to approach the Select Board directly after the board unanimously agreed the newly formed Select Board zoning review committee is "redundant" with work already underway, adding: "It's a slap in the face to the board."
