Granby Library Trustees Approve Circulation Hire, Begin Search for Youth Services Replacement

GRANBY — July 8, 2025 — Granby Library Trustees voted unanimously July 8 to hire Bridget Potter as the library's new 25-hour-per-week circulation assistant at $17.33 per hour, while also beginning to plan for the retirement of youth services librarian Janice Mardle, effective September 29. Library Director Jennifer Carey told the board the hiring committee received more than 20 applications for the newly created part-time post, interviewed four finalists, and ranked Potter first, with Griffin Brown named as the alternate. Carey described Potter as "very well poised" with "a love for the library" and noted her interest in social work-focused librarianship. The board also voted unanimously to update its trustee vacancy policy to require publicizing openings in a newspaper "and on relevant social media," and approved three end-of-fiscal-year warrants for payment totaling approximately $6,397. The 34-hour youth services position — fully benefited and potentially subject to upgraded educational requirements before posting — must clear the town Personnel Board before it can be advertised, with a target start date in October.
