Granby Board of Health Conditionally Approves Charter Day Food Vendor Permits

GRANBY — May 20, 2025 — Granby Board of Health approves Charter Day vendor permits but ties approvals to restroom access. Chair Dick Bombader told the board he had contacted Charter Day Committee Chairman Randy Golivan after learning the committee planned to skip opening the pavilion toilets and rely on porta-potties and portable handwashing stands instead — a plan Bombader called unacceptable given that nearly every food vendor application listed the pavilion's sanitary facilities as their operational support. The board approved permits for Parks Catering and Concessions, four Vanelli-branded food stalls, DNL Concessions, Moser Concessions, Amy's Route 9 Bakery, and Batch Ice Cream, all subject to the condition that vendors have access to functioning toilets and hot running water at every operating location. A kettle corn vendor was held pending a base-of-operations agreement. The board also received word from Jim Trumpy that a 2,000-gallon septic tank at his Granby winery would be installed by the following Wednesday and fully connected by month's end — resolving a long-running compliance issue — while a design review for a new Red Fire Farm market building was deferred pending a detailed written use description and deed restrictions.
