Granby Board of Health Warns Winery: Install Septic System or Lose License

GRANBY — April 22, 2025 — Granby Board of Health warns East State Street winery it faces license non-renewal over long-delayed septic installation. The board, led by a chair identified in discussion only as Dick, said the winery has not begun installation of a required 2,000-gallon holding tank that was supposed to be in the ground before winter, and has already received a certified warning letter to which the owner has not responded. The business, which is advertising a multi-vendor Mother's Day market with more than 10 vendors for May 10, holds an operating license running only through the end of June. The board said it will not renew the license unless the tank is installed and functioning by June 30, and the chair said he would call the business's attorney the following day to press for action. The board also approved a new installer's license for RJL Construction with a requirement for enhanced engineer oversight on all jobs, and conditionally approved a septic repair design for 52 Barnett Road after confirming neighboring system setbacks met the 100-foot minimum.
