Granby School Committee Approves MSBA Filing, Names Superintendent Finalists
GRANBY — March 18, 2025 — Granby School Committee keeps high school on state building aid list, names two superintendent finalists. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to resubmit a Statement of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority, maintaining the district's place in the queue for potential construction funding despite longstanding town reluctance to take on the debt exclusion a major project would require. Superintendent Mary Jane Gauthier, who noted the building is "one catastrophe away from being a real problem," said state reimbursement for such a project could reach 60 percent or more. The committee also approved payment of $39,284 in overdue FY2024 Vanpool transportation invoices, to be drawn from IDEA grant carryover funds rather than the current operating budget. Director of Finance Todd Dorman reported the kitchen renovation contract has been awarded to Contracting Solutions of Southwick, with a mid-August completion target. The superintendent search moves to interviews, with finalists Mary Jane Rickson and Dr. Joanne Menard named by the screening committee.
