Granby Board of Health Issues Warning Over Stalled Wine House Septic Work

GRANBY — March 12, 2025 — Granby's Board of Health put a local wine house on notice over a stalled holding-tank installation at its March 12 meeting. The board directed its administrator, Colleen, to contact the operator — identified as Jim — and demand a construction timeline, noting that a temporary permit for the project is believed to expire around June 2025 and that no permit for the work appears to have been pulled despite approval dating to last summer. The board also approved a revised five-bedroom septic upgrade design for 1 Jennifer Drive submitted by engineer Tim McGinness, featuring three Elgen trenches and a new 1,500-gallon tank, and approved a new-construction septic design for 114 Morgan Street. Tom Fbot was reappointed animal inspector with Kim Goldsmith as his assistant under the same conflict-of-interest restrictions applied in prior years. On a resident complaint about the wine house's broader operating legitimacy, the board held firm: "We're going to approve septic systems, wells, and foodstuffs — that's our job."
