Granby's Capital Planning Committee unanimously backed a $110,000 backup generator for the Pleasant Street sewer pumping station, warning the town has been "playing Russian roulette" without one. New Fire Chief Evan won approval for $60,000 in portable radios and a $60,000 enclosed rescue vehicle, saying crews "couldn't even talk through a concrete building" during a November live burn. The panel also approved $110,599 for LED lighting at the Granby Free Public Library, where a failing control system left it "lit up like we're having a full blown party" at night, plus $25,652 more for a school generator project, $40,000 for a veterans memorial pavilion and a $72,941 police cruiser.
A zero-turn mower and cemetery equipment request were presented without a vote. All items now head to the Finance Committee ahead of the spring town meeting warrant.
